Thots on Supernatural Way of Royalty

At a Singapore Kindness Youth Forum last week, the 150 students who attended were posed this question - "Are grades or graciousness more important?" Through a show of hands, most of the student participants felt that grades were more important than graciousness.
How can we not compromise our Christian core value while being in the culture of this world? In Daniel 1:8, Daniel made up his mind not to defile himself with the king's choice food or wine, and he sought permission from King Nebuchadnezzar's official. And in the next verse, we read that God grants Daniel favour. Do we get this? Daniel knew what are the attributes as a child of God, and the son of the most high King, As a true royalty, he has his standard and his external environment does not affect his core value.
It says in 1 Peter 2:9 that "you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. In another words, Peter is saying 'YOU ARE' so that 'YOU MAY', it is so easy in our society to perform because there is a lot of pressure to perform, and often time, we haven't discover who we are, and we end up doing.

How can we be the kind of people who can hold on to our Christian core value - honour, integrity, kindness, goodness, and all the fruit of the Spirit, and still honour the pre-believers around us? We need to pray for wisdom like Daniel, wisdom to hold on to our core value, to stay pure and still not dishonour our non-Christian friends.
We are called to be sons and daughters of the King. The favour of God will help us to bridge all gaps, and does what we can't do, so that the kingdom of this world will become the Kingdom of Heaven.
